چکیده
MATERIALS AND METHODS Sections of brain were obtained at post mortem examination and as soon as possible were either frozen or processed. All autopsies were done within 24 hours of the death of the patient. The filtrates were prepared in the manner described elsewhere (1). Some idea of the uniformity of the human brain filtrates was achieved by nitrogen determi nation of samples of each filtrate. These were done by the micro-Kjeldahl technic and showed a range of from 1.2 mg. per cent to 5.2 mg. per cent. No correlation existed between nitrogen content and the induction of leukemia. Filtrates that failed to induce leukemia contained both the highest and lowest nitrogen values. The range of nitrogen con tent of those filtrates that did induce leukemia was from 3.2 mg. per cent to 4.5 mg. per cent. Control filtrates were prepared by heat in activa tion (65° C. for 45 minutes) of each of the human leukemic brain filtrates. In addition, fil-

Studies in leukemia. IV. The acceleration of the development of AKR lymphoma by means of cell-free filtrates.
While studying the agglutinating and precipi tating properties of guinea pig serum for leukemic cells and tissues (4, 5), we became interested in central nervous system tissue because it gave a precipitin reaction with guinea pig serum. In a series of preliminary experiments undertaken to determine the transmissibility of AKR lymphoma into young adult AKR mice by the use of leukemic brain or it...
متن کاملOverview the Causes of Early Deaths and Advance Supportive Care in Children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Systematic Review
Introduction: The objective of this study is to determine the major causes of early death in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Methods: The following databases including PubMed, EMBASE, Science Direct and Google Scholar were searched for following terms: “acute lymphoblastic leukemia”, “early mortality”, “early death “ and “death in induction phase “. Inclusion criteria were all studies abo...
متن کاملTreatment of a Child with Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia with Humanized Anti-CD33 Monoclonal Antibody: A Case Report and Review of Drug Development
Background: The induction chemotherapy regimen for acute myeloid leukemia has evolved as once induction is completed patients progress through the consolidation phase and achieve remission in 76% of cases. For patients with relapsed or refractory disease, alternative chemotherapy agents are available. Monoclonal antibody therapy with biological agents, such as the immunotoxin gemtuzumab ozog...
متن کاملInduction of Apoptosis in Human Leukemia Cell Line (HL60) by Animal’s Venom Derived Peptides (ICD-85)
Our previous studies revealed an inhibitory effect of ICD-85 (Venom derived peptides) on breast cancer cell line MDA-MB231. ICD-85 was also confirmed by in-vivo studies to suppress the breast tumor in mice. However, the exact mechanism of ICD-85 was unknown. Hence, the present study was undertaken to assess the mechanism of ICD-85 effect as an anti-proliferative agent of cancer cells. The effec...
